Our Mission

The Center for Digital Humanities at the Hebrew University is an interdisciplinary hub dedicated to advancing research, education, and collaboration in the digital humanities. Our mission is anchored in three core pillars that empower scholars to leverage digital methodologies for transformative humanistic inquiry.

Digital Research Support

We provide personalized support to integrate digital tools and methodologies into humanities research, enabling scholars to address complex questions with innovative approaches (database creation, collection building, data analysis, ocr and more) -> visit our Projects page
If you are interested in receiving consultation for defining your digital needs and learning about the opportunities available in the Digital Humanities, we are pleased to schedule a short consultation meeting. Promoting Digital Humanities Literacy

We are dedicated to making Digital Humanities an integral part of academic research and education through ongoing workshops and the annual school for DH,  weekly research seminar and a specialized DH track for Master’s students, we help participants engage confidently with digital methodologies.
The weekly seminar acts as a hub for those wanting to learn and utilize tools in DH, while providing a platform for discussion of new research projects. Through the seminar, we strive to promote ongoing collaboration among researchers in various fields. For the 2024-2025 schedule>>

Pioneering Research Laboratories

At the heart of the center are two research labs in DH:

  • Dr. Barak Sober’s Lab, which uses computational methods to explore cultural and historical dynamics, reconstructing historical networks and analyzing cultural practices. The Lab's projects include "Computerized Paleography" and "Machine Learning in Art Investigaion".

  • Dr. Renana Keydar’s Lab leverages AI and computational tools to tackle interdisciplinary challenges at the intersections of law, literature, history, and ethics. The lab investigates legal texts and Holocaust testimonies, uncovering new insights into justice, accountability, and societal narratives. By integrating technology with the humanities, it advances ethical understanding and innovative research across disciplines.
